Mazloum Abdi: We will do everything in our power to ensure the success of Leader Öcalan’s call

SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi stated that the unity of the Kurds is also the unity of Syria. He vowed that they would do everything in their power to ensure the success of Leader Öcalan's historic call.

The “Conference on Kurdish Unity and Common Stance" in Rojava continues in Qamishlo with the participation of 400 people from Rojava, Bakur and Bashur Kurdistan and different regions of Syria.

Delivering the opening speech of the conference, SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) General Commander Mazloum Abdi said the following:

“We would like to thank everyone who attended our conference and did not leave us alone. You are welcome.

We have suffered 13,000 martyrs and thousands of wounded in the battle to defend our region. We wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. We dedicate this conference to our martyrs.

We would like to thank President Barzani and the KNK (Kurdistan National Congress) for their efforts. We have not forgotten the efforts of Nechirvan Barzani and Bafel Talabani, and we extend our thanks to them as well.

I want to clarify one point: this conference is not about fragmentation and division, but rather about unity. The unity of the Kurds is also the unity of Syria, and the strengthening of the Kurds is also the strengthening of Syria. Many peoples live in Syria. We want a decentralized, democratic Syria that embraces everyone.

For 15 years we, as Arabs, Kurds, Syriacs, Assyrians, and all other peoples, have been living together. We have experience in joint administration, we share a common history, and we are working to protect North and East Syria. All our efforts are aimed at securing the place we deserve as a region in the new Syria.

For years, the peoples of Syria have been kept away from the administration. The Kurds have been fighting for years and have shown everyone that they are the most patriotic people in Syria.

We have gathered here today to hold a Kurdish conference, determine our political program, and establish dialogue with the Syrian government based on the decisions made here in order to achieve Kurdish rights.

The “Call for Peace and a Democratic Society” from Imralı also has an impact on peace and stability in Rojava. We will do everything in our power to ensure the success of this call.

I hope the conference will be successful. I believe that this conference will bring unity to Rojava and serve as a first step toward national unity throughout Kurdistan.

The conference continues with speeches by participants and the reading of messages sent to the conference.
