KCK hearing began in Diyarbakir

The historic so called “KCK trial” against 152 people including Kurdish politicians and human rights defenders, has just began after yesterday's hearing was adjourned. The court board has decided yesterday for the re-issuance of a warrant concerning the appointment of lawyers with Automatic CMK (Code of Criminal Procedure) Assignment System (OCAS) and to file a criminal complaint against the lawyers if they don’t attend the trials.

Announcing the decision at yesterday’s trial which wasn’t attended by defender lawyers, the court board rejected lawyer Sertac Eke’s demand for the removal of Sur Mayor Abdullah Demirbaþ's ban on leaving the country to receive a medical treatment abroad. Again, the demand for the re-transfer of the arrestees to Diyarbakir D-Type Closed Prison due to place need was rejected by the court board.

Deciding for the re-issue of a warrant concerning the appointment of lawyers from Diyarbakýr Bar Association, which was asked for obligatory advocates, the court decided to file a criminal complaint in case of objection to the lawyers. (D.F.)
