KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council Co-Presidency has released a statement marking the first anniversary of the massacre in which “33 socialist youths were targeted by a bomb attack in Suruç by the fascist ISIS; the AKP's ally and partner in the Middle East”.

KCK said they commemorated these 33 youths that had gathered from across Turkey for solidarity with Kobanê, and reiterated their promise to realize their longing for a democratic Turkey and free Kurdistan.

Stressing that these youths were massacred for revealing the spirit of solidarity among peoples on the basis of Kobanê resistance and showing solidarity with the people of Kobanê, KCK said said this massacre targeted the spirit in Suruç where thousands of people from different backgrounds and identities came and stood together for months in solidarity with the Kobanê resistance. KCK said this spirit did not only play a major role for the Kobanê victory that defeated ISIS but also inflicted a major blow on the AKP fascism.

According to KCK, the AKP and its ally ISIS massacred these 33 youths who represented the Suruç spirit that would bring their end, and thus aimed to downgrade the spirit of joint struggle based on the fraternity of peoples.

The statement noted that the AKP government wanted to crush the Suruç spirit through the MİT (Turkish Intelligence Agency) within the ISIS.

KCK continued, stressing that; "The massacre of 33 youths in Suruç exposes what the revolutionary and democrat circles in Turkey and Kurdistan need to do. Now that the enemies of freedom and democracy fear the fraternity and joint struggle of peoples most, we must create platforms of joint struggle, enhance the struggle and leave them facing what they fear. Now that all the fascist forces in Turkey come together and fight against the Kurdish people and democracy forces, then all the democracy forces should come together and step up the struggle against these fascist powers that gather around the AKP fascism. Once this is achieved, the fascist government in Turkey will be eliminated soon and the way for Turkey's democratization will be opened entirely."

Recalling that the Suruç victims were massacred because of their goal to enhance the joint struggle, KCK pointed out that the Peoples' United Revolutionary Front is of major importance with regards to strengthening the joint struggle unity of peoples.

"Once a democracy bloc to complete this step is established, the longing of all revolution and democracy martyrs will be fulfilled and this will enable the realization of democratic Turkey and free Kurdistan."

KCK underlined that the Kurdish Freedom Movement, which has always enhanced the struggle up until today as a requirement of its responsibility towards all revolution and democracy martyrs, will also step up the struggle in loyalty to the memory of the socialist youths massacred in Suruç, and fulfill its mission in order for the realization of democratic Turkey and free Kurdistan.

KCK ended its statement by calling upon the peoples to commemorate the socialist youths on the first anniversary of their massacre and enhance the struggle on the basis of fraternity of peoples.
