At least 58 people were taken into custody on Monday morning within the scope of Ankara centered KCK operation which targeted Confederation of Public Laborer's Unions (KESK) and its constituents.
The operation which was launched against KESK members who are accused of being member of Democratic Labor Platform and taking part in KCKs Turkey Council still continues in central offices of many unions.
Among the detainees are also KESK General Chairperson Lami Özgen, Tüm Bel-Sen Secretary Ýzzettin Alpergin, Eðitim Sen Secretary Mehmet Bozgeyik as well as many executives and members of primary unions.
With some 40 union members currently in prison, Turkey holds the record of jailed union members as well.
