KESK rally in Ankara on Monday

Confederation of Public Workers Unions (KESK) will hold a rally on 2 April in the capital city of Ankara to protest a new law draft which neither removes the obstacles before the freedom of organization nor includes the right to strike.

The march to the Parliament against the law draft, ‘fake union law’ as KESK calls it, will also be supported by press statements to be made in all provinces including Istanbul.

Despite intense reactions and a remarkable resistance KESK has most recently displayed against the 4+4+4 law draft, which aims to replace the compulsory continuous education system with a 4+4+4 discontinuous system, the draft was approved and passed in an environment of severe discussions among the political parties in the Parliament.

According to the KESK statement on the protest actions to be staged against the new law draft, marches and long-continued sit-in actions will be staged in all cities tomorrow.

The march in Ankara will start in front of the Prime Ministry Building at 12.30 and end in front of the building of TGNA where the new draft will be negotiated tomorrow.
