It has been reported that KDP forces have closed the Khabur border gate between North and South Kurdistan to hundreds of people wanting to cross into Turkey to cast their votes for the general election tomorrow.
Reports are coming through that tens of buses and hundreds of people, who departed for Turkey to vote in the elections to be held tomorrow are being kept waited at the Khabur border gate controlled by the KDP forces.
People are reacting to the closure of the border crossing by the KDP peshmerga forces.
A person who wants to remain anonymous said the followings regarding the situation at the border:
“I am from Iraq and standing at the Khabur border gate at the moment. There are currently 15 buses held waiting here. The people who arrived at the border gate to cross into Turkey to vote in the elections are being held here. There is no problem in crossing from the Turkish side into the South, but there is long queue on the peshmerga side. Those who will arrive here this evening will not be able to cross into Turkey before 12:00 tomorrow, while those who would arrive tomorrow morning will not be able to catch the elections. There are thousands of people here and something must be done to solve this”.
