Referring to Deputy Minister Beþir Atalay’s statements in which he said that “KCK” operations were carried out in a coordinated manner, BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Co-chair Gültan Kýþanak said that; “The AKP creates evidences which are collected by the prosecution and used as accusations against our people. Resisting - she added - is our only option.”
BDP Co-chair Gültan Kýþanak, Istanbul MP Sebahat Tuncel, Batman MP Ayla Akat Ata and Kars MP Mülkiye Birtan visited those taken into custody in the context of the so called “KCK” (Kurdish Communities Union) operation carried out by police in 17 cities on 13 January. While the prosecution interrogation of the people in custody continue at Istanbul Court in Beþiktaþ, BDP Co-chair Kýþanak made a statement to families after the visit. Kýþanak underlined that the so-called “KCK” operations were led by the AKP government and Prime Minister Erdoðan for the last three years and reminded the statements of Deputy Prime Minister Beþir Atalay who conceded that “KCK”operations were led coordinately. Kýþanak said that; “The AKP is using the law and opportunities of the state to end the BDP. The AKP’s media announces the decisions regarding operations even before the detained people are taken to prosecution office.”
Reminding that the arrested people are BDP members who conduct legal work, Kýþanak noted that; “What disturbs the AKP is the fact that BDP is in the streets and meetings despite all the pressure and detention it faces. The AKP and Prime Minister Erdoðan have two options; either to continue to be cruel or to abandon these policies and granting us our rights on a democratic ground. Stil, our struggle will continue and we have a single option; to continue to resist.”
Remarking that arrests and trials are carried out resembling a theater performance, Kýþanak added that they were however still optimistic about justice.
