Kobanê Government calls for urgent action for civilians

Urban warfare between ISIS gangs and YPG/YPJ forces has started in the Kobanê town of West Kurdistan following fierce clashes late in the evening when gangs started to launch intensified attacks, mainly from the Turkish border side.

Issuing an urgent appeal after the most recent developments, the Kobanê Government stressed that civilians in the town were under threat, and urged immediate action by the international community to prevent a probable massacre of the people in the besieged town.

The Kobanê Government recalled that the town is facing brutal attacks by ISIS gangs as thousands of members of the organisation coming from various countries across the world are attacking the town centre with heavy weaponry.

The statement continued; “The Kobanê resistance has manifested that the people and fighters of Kobanê are not going to leave the town. Despite all the calls issued by our government to the world public and international powers, we are yet to be answered.”

The Kobanê Government called on all international powers, Kurdistani powers and the people of Kurdistan to intervene the gangs and not to allow them to commit massacre against thousands of civilians.

The government warned that the international community will be held responsible if a massacre takes place in Kobanê.
