Kobanê resistance continues

The Kobanê town of Rojava, West Kurdistan, witnessed last night the fiercest clashes since the beginning of the intensified ISIS attacks on 15 September.

The attacks by ISIS gangs continued all day and night long yesterday as YPG/YPJ forces put a historic resistance against the gangs- affiliated to the inhuman organisation now calling itself the Islamic State- that continue to attack the mainly Kurdish town with heavy weaponry and tanks.

After launching a new wave of heavy weaponry attacks from all three fronts, predominantly from the east and south, with an aim to enter the Kobanê town centre in the evening, ISIS gangs made the closest advance towards the town from the south. Fighters of the YPG-YPJ Protection Units however didn't allow the gangs to enter the city, launching an expansive offensive against those advancing towards the centre.

The advance of ISIS gangs on the eastern front has reportedly been halted thanks to the resistance of YPG-YPJ guerrillas.

In the meantime, YPG-YPJ forces have reportedly formed lines of defence inside the town as clashes are going on outside the centre.

As clashes lasted along the night, warplanes of the anti-ISIS international coalition have reportedly shelled two locations on the southern front last night. Local sources said the bombing targeted two tanks belonging to the ISIS gangs. This was however not followed by another aerial operation against the gangs and their positions.

Fierce clashes between Protection forces and ISIS gangs are reported to be continuing as of early Thursday morning.

Many members of the gang groups have reportedly been killed in yesterday's clashes.
