Kocakaya: Each deputy to be elected in Malatya will be a 'wind of change'

Green Left Party candidate Perihan Kocakaya said that each deputy to be elected in Malatya will be like a 'wind of change' in the country.

Malatya (Meletî) is a city that has always been the target of governments because of its religious and ethnic identity. In the city, where frequent attacks against Alevis and Armenians are experienced, the peoples do not compromise their resistance to continue living together.

In Malatya, where the most devastating effects of the two Maraş-centered earthquake were heavily felt on 6 February, many people lost their lives as a result of bad government's policies. The fact that the districts and villages of Malatya, where Alevis and Armenians live, were ignored by the government that left the people to die, once again revealed the policy of the AKP-MHP regime.

The first candidate of the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party) in Malatya, is a woman. Indeed, the party nominated mostly women in its list, which is composed by Perihan Yücekaya, Yusuf Bozkuş, Sevim Alagöz, Hüseyin Kılıç, Rozerin Ercan and Gafar Bayram.

The AKP government is the sole responsible for what happened

Perihan Yücekaya, who previously served as the provincial chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), told ANF about the work of the candidates for the elections. She pointed out that the AKP was responsible for the deaths in the earthquake disaster and said: “Many places in our city were agricultural lands, but the AKP exploited these lands and built houses. This place has become a graveyard for many of our people. This was a massacre. And those responsible for this massacre are obvious."

Drawing attention to the problems of earthquake victims, Perihan Yücekaya said: “We have been visiting earthquake victims in tent cities since the first day. People are experiencing serious problems in Malatya. The AKP turned our green Malatya into rubble. Our people were killed.

We will ask this government to respond for what happened

Yücekaya said that they will bring the problems of Malatya to the Assembly and added that they would ask the government to respond for the grievances they experienced in the earthquake. “We will be the voice of the farmers” - said Yücekaya, adding: “This place meets 70 percent of the world apricot market. Due to the high cost of diesel, farmers cannot sow or take care of their gardens. We will go to the Parliament and fight for the Malatya farmers to receive the fruits of their labor.”

We are ready for change

Yücekaya said that each deputy to be elected in Malatya will be a 'wind of change' in the country and added that “the AKP did not hesitate to show its fascist, monist mentality during the earthquake. In Malatya, our people were killed because the government abandoned the areas where Alevis and Armenians lived. Political genocide operations against Kurds continue. Less than 24 hours after the earthquake, an air attack was launched on Rojava. We will break this equation they have imposed on us. Peoples need to live together in peace and security. We are the guarantee of this need. We are on the brink of historic victory. We are determined and ready for change.”
