In a statement to mark World Peace Day, the co-chairs of KON-MED, the largest umbrella organisation of the Kurdish diaspora in Germany, said, “We celebrate September 1, World Peace Day, hoping that it will pave the way for a democratic solution to all social problems in the world, the Middle East, Turkey and Kurdistan, as well as for freedom, peace and brotherhood.”
The statement by the co-chairs of KON-MED includes the following:
“We commemorate our martyrs who sacrificed their lives for peace, democracy and freedom with respect and gratitude as we mark World Peace Day. The 21st century, which all peoples and the oppressed have welcomed with a hope to live together in peace, brotherhood and freely, is, unfortunately, wanted to be a century full of chaos, conflict and bloody wars. The forces of capitalist modernity and nation states have transformed the Middle East into a sea of wars through their sovereign, colonialist and chaos-fed policies. The Kurdish society has been subjected to terrorism by four different nation-states.
Conflicts between peoples and faith groups are galvanized in an attempt to attain power from wars. Sexist policies against women, exploitation, usurpation of rights, violence, rape and femicides are encouraged as part of a strategic attack of the special wars all over the world, especially in Turkey.
The Erdogan-AKP-MHP fascist regime is going through its most dangerous phase and is on the verge of collapse. In order to delay its collapse and prolong the fascist state, it has accelerated the invasion of Kurdistan with the war in Metina, Avaşin and Zap regions in the Medya Defense Zones. It is obvious that Turkey is aiming at a Kurdish genocide with the use of chemical attacks. No member of NATO can save itself from being a partner to Turkey's terrorist crimes. In particular, the German government is complicit in Turkish crimes. It supports the invading Turkish state economically and politically. German weapons are dispatched to Turkey and German technology is used to produce Turkish drones that commit massacres.
The torture and inhuman isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan, introduced as part of an occupation and genocidal war, has tried peoples’ patience. As we are approaching the final stage in the struggle for freedom, the AKP-MHP fascist genocidal regime is doomed to failure.
It has now become imperative for our people and all pro-freedom and democracy people to fight more radically against these attacks.
On the occasion of September 1, World Peace Day, we call on our people to endorse our motto 'Freedom for Öcalan, Peace in Kurdistan'.
The KON-MED calls on everybody, especially the Kurdish people, to raise the voice of Peace against Wars by ensuring strong participation in all activities to be held on World Peace Day.”
