KON-MED calls for urgent action against Turkish chemical attacks in Kurdistan

KON-MED called for urgent action in protest at the Turkish state which uses chemical weapons in the invasion attacks against Kurdistan and its partner KDP.

The largest umbrella organization of the Kurdish Diaspora in Germany, KON-MED, released a statement calling on the Kurdish people and anti-war activists to take to the streets in protest at “the Turkish state which is attacking Kurdistan with chemical weapons in defiance of human values.”

The KON-MED statement includes the following:

“The colonialist fascist Turkish state is using chemical weapons against the Kurdish people by invading Kurdistan before the eyes of the whole world. On April 17, it launched a new invasion attack in South Kurdistan in an attempt to finish off the Kurdish freedom resistance by allying with the treacherous KDP. The invading Turkish state seeks to get results by using chemical weapons both in cooperation with the KDP and with the support of international forces.

The Freedom Guerrillas, the only hope of the Kurdish people, are continuing to protect the entire people of Kurdistan through their outstanding resistance against these invasion and genocidal attacks. Having received major blows, the Turkish state is carrying out attacks with chemical weapons in defiance of human values. It is carrying out massacres by bombing civilian settlements. With the most recent ground and aerial attacks, the Turkish state is again violating international laws and committing war crimes.

EUROPEAN STATES ARE PARTNERS TO TURKISH WAR CRIMES

The European states and institutions that have remained silent towards the Turkish chemical attacks are partners in these war crimes. Despite mounting evidence, no action has been taken by the OPCW or other international actors against the occupying Turkish army.

INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION

We in the KON-MED call on all people living in Germany to show solidarity with the Kurdish people. As the Kurdish community in Germany, we demand an independent investigation into the Turkish use of chemical weapons in South Kurdistan. We urge the German Federal Government, the United Nations and the international community to stop turning a blind eye to these crimes against humanity for the sake of economic interests!

TO THE STREES NOW!

On this basis, we call on all our people living in Germany and all our anti-war friends to take to the streets and join the protests in a spirit of mobilization.”
