Kurdish and French people visited hunger strikers in Strasbourg

Solidarity with hunger strike actions against isolation continues.

The hunger strike launched by 14 people in Strasbourg on December 17 to protest the isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, was visited by hundreds of people.

HDP co-chair Sezai Temelli and his accompanying delegation, as well as four Academics for Peace have visited the activists yesterday.

Once again visitors were coming from Strasbourg, as well as from the German cities of Sachsen, Bremen, Stuttgart and Kehl. Many people came from Switzerland to support the action.

Mustafa Gokpinar, director of the Democratic Alevi Federation (FEDA) from Paris, joined the visitors together with many Kurdish patriots from France.

French Communist Party (PCF) members from Moselle to Strasbourg

The support of French political parties and movements also increases by the day. Many French Communist Party (PCF) members of the Moselle Province Federation, came to commend the hunger strikers.

Among the PCF delegation were Metz section secretary Marie Marechal as well as Sylvie Machet, Jean-Marie Drobisz, Pascal Bortot and Abel Piault.

Marie Marechal expressed support for HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven and added that the PCF has always been on the side of the demands of the Kurdish people.

Marechal underlined that they support the hunger strike, a peaceful action, against the isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Marechal said that the struggle of Leyla Güven should be supported and criticized the lack of the appropriate media coverage for the hunger strikes.

Other members of the Communist Party from Moselle stated that the struggle of the Kurds was valuable for them and they expressed their solidarity.

KCDK-E co-chair Yüksel Koç said on behalf of the hunger strikers that the visit of the PCF delegation gave them morale. Noting the importance of the common struggle of the peoples, Koç underlined the need for common struggle and recalled the struggle of Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan for the peaceful coexistence of peoples.

Kurdish journalists visited the hunger strikers

Kurdish media workers also continued visiting the hunger strikers in Strasbourg and provided support. Journalists Ferda Çetin and Erdal Er came to Strasbourg and met with the activists.
