Kurdish Language Day celebrated in Paris

In 2006, 15 May was declared Kurdish Language Day and has been celebrated as such since.

Kurdish cultural movement TEV-ÇAND organized an event in Paris to mark the Kurdish Language Day, May 15.

The event at the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Academy was attended by many Kurds living in the French capital.

Hozan Şemdin, Farqin Azad, Deza Amed and Nuarin took the stage during the enthusiastic event which also hosted poem and music in Kurmancî, Kirmançki, Soranî and Goranî dialects.

Speaking here, Hozan Şemdin said, “Let’s speak Kurdish at home, workplace and streets and most importantly, let’s speak our language with our children. Let’s write and think in Kurdish.”

The celebration was concluded with Kurdish traditional dance govend.
