Forty year-old Ýbrahim Yakýþan immolated himself in Toulouse (France) in the night of 31 March. Yakýþan, reported to be a former political prisoner, is claimed to have burnt himself because of his marriage problems.
After calling and notifying police about the action, Yakýþan immolated himself in Amouroux district which he had also mentioned to police.
Police found Yakýþan in flames by the time they arrived the scene. Like many other political prisoners who earlier immolated themselves in prison, Yakýþan also covered his body with nylon and poured thinner on his body before setting himself on fire.
Although Yakýþan was immediately taken to Rangueil hospital, he lost his life on 1 April, suffering from 80 percent body burnt.
According to information ANF obtained, Yakýþan had spent 11 years in Turkey prisons before he moved to Europe in early 2000s. It is reported that Yakýþan immolated himself because of depression he had suffered from since his wife sued him for divorce and a court banned him from seeing his child.
