The mainly Kurdish neighborhood of Sheikh Maksoud in Aleppo was shelled by the Syrian army late Thursday.

According to the reports by local sources, soldiers of the Syrian army attempted to enter the neighborhood after the shelling. Syrian soldiers had to pull back from the region in the face of strong resistance by YPG (People's Defense Units) and Cebhet Elektrad fighters.

Attacks targeting the Kurdish region are reported to be continuing in some places.
