Kurdish people travel to Oslo in groups to vote for HDP

The voting period for the general elections in Turkey started in Norway on Friday 22 May. The voters in Norway are casting their votes in the Turkish Embassy in Oslo, while Kurds living in Norway are travelling to Oslo in convoys to vote for the HDP.
There is a big Kurdish community living in Norway, however not concentrated in particular cities, but spread across Norway. The Kurdish people are collectively taking buses or cars from all over Norway to reach to Oslo to vote.
Yesterday a group of 25 people, comprising mainly Kurdish people originally coming from Central Anatolia, came to Oslo from a northern city, Trondheim, to vote for the HDP. The group chanted slogans “Long Live HDP”, “Woman, Life, Freedom” as they marched towards the Turkish embassy.
On the first day of the voting, Kurdish people living in Stavanger came to Oslo in a convoy of cars and 2 minibuses.
In the meantime, HDP Norway representatives, Kerem Arda and Xezal Algünerhan, told ANF that the Kurdish people living in different parts of Norway will continue to travel to Oslo in groups to vote for the HDP.
In Norway there are around 7 thousand voters who can vote at the elections in Turkey, and the HDP aims to secure half of these votes. However, it is said that participation in the elections so far is lower than targeted, although the HDP is expected to be the leading party in Norway.
