Kurdish political prisoner hanged in Iran
The Iranian regime has secretively executed a Kurdish political prisoner named Eziz Xakzad although his sentence had been reduced to five years and his family and his lawyer weren’t informed of the execution.
According to the news of human rights defenders’ news portal Hrana, 29-year old Eziz Xakzade, who was arrested in 2007 and sentenced with death penalty by Xoy Revolutionary Court on charges of "waging war against God" and “aiding a Kurdish party”, was secretly hanged in Kerman central prison in the morning of October 4th.
However, a superior court had reduced Xakzade’s sentence to five years and sent him from Selmas to Kerman prison. Hrana noted that neither the family nor the lawyer of the prisoner was informed before the execution.
Moreover, eight other prisoners were hanged in Adabeh, Neyriz, Kazeron and Boanat towns of Fars on October 3rd. The names of the prisoners, charged with drug trafficking, are as follows; Abdolmajad A., Mohammad Reza A., Abdolrasol T., Mohsen A., Ahmad K., Hadi K., Masih K., Mohsen Z.
Separately, 18 Kurdish political prisoners in Iranian prisons are still under execution threat; Zeyneb Celaliyan, Þêrko Mearifî, Hebîbûlla Letîfî, Samî Husênî, Cemal Mihemedî, Rustem Erkiya, Mistefa Selîmî, Enwer Rostemî, Îrec Mihemedî, Mihemed Emîn Agûþî, Ehmed Pûladxanî, Hesen Tale'î, Ezîz Mihemedizade, Hebibulla Gulperîpûr, Ebdûlah Sirurî, Reþîd Axkendî, Loqman Muradi ve Zanyar Muradi.
Including the execution of Xakzade, the number of Kurdish political prisoners executed by the Iranian regime since 2007 rose to 10. Among the recently executed prisoners are Iran's Kurdistan Democratic Party (IKDP) member Ferhad Tarim who was hanged in Urmiye prison on 27 January 2011 and Hüseyin Xizri who whose secret execution in in Urmiye prison on January 5 exposed on January 15.
Among other hanged political prisoners are PJAK militant Hasan Himet Demir who was hanged in 2007, Ýhsan Fetahiyan on 11 November 2009, Fesih Yasemini on 6 January 2010 and Kurdish teachers Ferzad Kemanger, Ferhad Wekili, Eli Heyderiyan and Þirin Elem Hulu who were executed on 9 May 2010.
