The humanitarian organization Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê, in cooperation with Kurdish business people in Japan, provided hot meals and supplies to earthquake victims in the city of Suzu on the Noto peninsula.
On January 1, 2024, 241 people were killed, 1286 people were injured and 19 people went missing as a result of the 7.5 magnitude earthquake in the city of Suzu on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
Ishikawa prefecture governor's office stated that 12,443 buildings were damaged and more than 19 thousand people were accommodated in evacuation points.
The Kurdish Red Crescent, Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê, in Japan announced that they provided aid to the earthquake victims.
According to the statement, a 4000-person meal was distributed to earthquake victims in 8 shelters for three days starting from January 12. On February 24/25, 1200 people were given hot meals for two days and 2000 people were given provisions.
Heyva Sor a Kurdistanê emphasized that they always see it as a humanitarian duty and responsibility to help earthquake victims in Japan, where earthquakes occur frequently.
