In Vienna, Austria, the Apoist Youth Initiative occupied Turkey Tourism Bureau with 20 people and called everybody to boycott Turkey.

The youth expressed that they carried out the demonstration in the memory of Zeynep Kınacı (Zilan) who has become a symbol with her action of self-sacrifice against the Turkish army on June 30, 1996 in Dersim.

The youth’s statement for the protest demo read: “The fascist Turkish state and the AKP government that showed their genocidal face with the massacres in Bakûre (Northern) Kurdistan in basements of atrocity and by burning people’s bodies and the natural environment feed off tourism.”

The statement continued: “For more than one year now, our Leader is facing torture in the shape of isolation in İmralı island. Turkish soldiers set fire to the natural environment in Lice, Gabar and Cudi. Erdoğan’s greed for power is dragging Turkey and Kurdistan into chaos. Erdoğan and the AKP are responsible for the attack on İstanbul’s airport.

Under such conditions, vacationing in Turkey means supporting Erdoğan and the AKP. It means becoming an accomplice in the massacres against the Kurds and the isolation of the Leadership.

We as the Apoist Youth Initiative Vienna call on everybody to boycott Turkey’s tourism sector.”

Stating that some fascist groups attempted to attack the demonstration, the group said all the attempts were pushed back.
