Kurdistan Free Society Movement announces its foundation
The Kurdistan Free Society Movement, (Tevgera Azadî ya Civaka Kurdistanê), which has held its first congress in Sulaimaniyah in South Kurdistan, has announced its foundation.
Following a two-year preparation period, the Kurdistan Free Society Movement held its first congress in Sulaimaniyah on 17 October attended by 150 delegates under the slogan “democratic society for a free individual”. Şilan Şakir and Mihemed Ebdullah were elected as the co-chairs as well as an executive committee of 15 persons being elected.
In a press conference held by the co-chairs, Şakir and Ebdullah, in Suleymaniyah, the foundation of the Kurdistan Free Society Movement has been announced. The press conference was attended by many journalists and intellectuals.
The co-chair Mihemed Ebdullah stressed that they will work within the framework of the idea of “democratic nation” that was developed by the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan and added that they will put efforts into the development of permanent peace in the four parts of Kurdistan.
Ebdullah said that they would also work for the assembling of the Kurdish national conference.
