Kurdistan People’s Initiative: Do not comply with the curfew

The Kurdistan People’s Initiative has issued a statement calling on the Kurdish people and their friends not to abide by the curfew declared by Turkey in North Kurdistan, and to continue their solidarity actions with Rojava and protests at the attacks on Kobanê.

The Initiative said the Kurdish people are exercising their legitimate right to protest at the Turkish state-supported ISIS gang attacks on Kobane, noting that in this context the Kurdish people, from 7 to 70, have risen up in protest all over Kurdistan, in Turkey and in Europe.

“Wherever our people are, they will exercise their legitimate right of self-defence against attacks. It must be understood that a response will be made to attacks on our people who are risen up, from wherever or whomever they originate”, it stressed.

The Initiative also emphasised that the AKP government which has declared a state of emergency and martial law in the provinces of Kurdistan out of fear of a great uprising intends to prevent this uprising by prohibition and wants people to sit in their homes in silence and watch the attacks on Kobane and a possible massacre.

It continued; “As members of a movement that demolished the bloody fascist regime of 12 September, we declare we will not recognise any emergency rule or martial law decrees. These decisions are invalid and have no value or effect on us. The streets, public spaces and university campuses are ours. The torture chambers, police stations and government offices are theirs. It is this dictatorial regime and its members who should sit down and not go outside.”

"Hence, our people de facto do not recognise this decision and are continuing their solidarity protests against the ISIS gangs", the Initiative said, and called on all Kurdish people to ignore this decree and render it meaningless and invalid by carrying out actions.
