Kurds and the Syria revolt discussed at meeting

A meeting has been organized in Brussels at the Maison des Parlementaires (Salle de Congrès, Rue de Louvain, 21 – 1009) on Monday 12 March.

The conference, "Middle East and democracy: Recent events in Syria and the position of Kurds" will begin at 1.30pm and will address the current situation in Syria as well as presenting some proposals for the solution of the Kurdish issue.

The organizer, Senator Piet De Bruyn (N-VA), together with the Kurdish National Congress and the Kurdish Institute in Brussels, will commemorate the 12 March 2004 massacre in Qamishlo. Thirty civilians were killed in that massacre and 160 have been wounded.

The conference will be moderate by senator Piet De Bruyn and will address the following issues:

Flandres and the Kurds: Which role can play the Flemmish in the search for a solution to the Kuridsh question ?

The first session will be about Middle East and democracy with the participation of Dr. Xalit ISA, Member of the Syrian opposition.

Sheruan HASSAN, member of the Kurdish movement, will talk about recent events in Syria and the Kurds position.

The danger of a military intervention will also be discussed by journalist Ludo De BRABANDER .
