Kurds from Munich take over Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg

The new group that took over the Freedom for Öcalan Vigil in Strasbourg said that the Turkish state was conducting a dirty war policy against the Kurds.

The Freedom for Öcalan Initiative started a vigil with the aim of ensuring the physical freedom of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan and breaking the isolation imposed on him in 2012.

This week (week 528) the vigil has been taken over by members of the Democratic Kurdistan Community Center from Munich.

Mücahit Kaya, Hacı Atlı, Nurettin Inca and Emrah Toprak are in the group that took over the vigil.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Mücahit Kaya saluted the guerrillas who have been heroically resisting the Turkish occupation of the Medya Defense Areas since April.

Kaya drew attention to the role of European states in the international conspiracy and said: "You handed over Leader Apo to the Turkish state with a conspiracy in 1999."

Kaya also underlined the crimes by the European states in the war against the Kurds and added: "You are persecuting Kurds everywhere in Kurdistan. You killed children, women and civilians in Zakho. Take your dirty hands off the Kurds and drop your dirty politics."

Drawing attention to the purpose of the vigil Kaya expressed the determination of the Kurdish people: “We are here today, we will be here tomorrow. We will carry out this vigil until Leader Apo is freed."
