As part of a letter campaign launched by the South African Kurdish Working Group (KHRAG) and the South African Confederation of Trade Unions (COSATU), letters are sent to the UN Secretary General from all over the world.
The Kurds living in Düsseldorf have sent hundreds of signed letters to the UN as part of the "Time of Freedom" campaign.
On May 4, letters had been sent via the post office in the city.
