The Kurds are planning to stage a protest in front of the UN in Geneva against the chemical attacks of the Turkish state.
The Kurds living in Switzerland are preparing for a sit-in in front of the United Nations (UN) headquarters in Geneva to urge European states and relevant institutions to fulfil their duties against the chemical attacks carried out by the invading Turkish state in the guerrilla controlled Medya Defence Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).
'TIME TO EMBRACE THE GUERILLA STRUGGLE'
The Swiss Democratic Kurdish Council (CDK-S) and the Swiss Kurdish Women's Association (YJK-S) issued a written statement concerning a 4-day sit-in to be launched in front of the UN headquarters on Wednesday, October 26. “It is time to embrace the guerrilla struggle to be the voice of freedom guerrillas who are exposed to chemical attacks,” the statement said.
“The Kurdish people and the freedom guerrillas are currently facing the most extensive and intense attacks in history. While the isolation of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has reached unprecedented levels, the freedom guerrillas are wanted to be rendered breathless just like him through these attacks,” the statement noted.
The statement emphasized that these attacks constitute a crime against humanity in defiance of the international laws.
“These attacks aim at completing the 'international conspiracy' and eliminating the Kurdish people's Freedom Struggle. The Kurdish people have faced dozens of similar attacks during their 50-year resistance initiated by Öcalan, but they have managed to frustrate them thanks to the resistance. The Kurdish people living in all four parts of Kurdistan and especially in Europe are putting up glorious resistance to protect our achievements. Kurdish patriots and their friends have been taking to the streets since April 17 when a new wave of attacks was launched. We will continue our protests on the streets until we secure the freedom of Öcalan, and relevant institutions such as the CPT and OPCW fulfil their duties and the UN and the EU take a stand against Turkish fascism,” the statement said.
'EVERYONE SHOULD BE INVOLVED IN RESISTANCE'
“We will once again give voice to the glorious resistance of the freedom guerrillas and Öcalan with a four-day sit-in, march and rally in front of the UN Office in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 26-29. We will show that we defend our guerrillas under all circumstances. We request, therefore, all Kurds, patriots and friends in Switzerland to take part in this multifaceted and uninterrupted resistance process."
The Kurds will hold a sit-in in front of the UN Office in Geneva on October 26-28, between 11-16 hours. Furthermore, a march will be launched in front of the Geneva train station on Saturday, October 29 at 12:00 and will conclude with a rally in front of the UN Office.
