BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) former deputy and HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party) newly elected co-chair Ertuğrul Kürkçü has left hospital after three days of treatment for a heart problem he suffered while at the congress of the newly formed HDP on 27 October.
Speaking to reporters, Kürkçü, accompanied by HDP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel, confirmed that he had a heart problem but has recovered and was in good state of health now, and extended his thanks to everyone who supported him while at the hospital.
"I am here after responding to a little trick of nature", Kürkçü said and remarked that he would give no break, and start preparations for the meetings the party assembly will hold at the weekend for the division of tasks, establishment of the central executive board and party committees, and determinations concerning practice of decisions made at the congress. “Then we will take the long way lying ahead of us”, he added.
Noting that it was also time for the party to determine policies on local elections, Kürkçü said: “I think we have made a very good and joyful beginning. We wouldn't have expected so many constituents to come to a proper consistency in such a short time.”
Asked about the relation between the BDP and the HDP, Kürkçü underlined that the BDP will be fighting for HDP's success in all the areas where it doesn't nominate candidates.
Answering a question about the possible joining of other parties in the HDP, Kürkçü noted that the party would be open to everyone regardless of their former membership and views. “We are not trying to separate any one from their parties but this movement will invite people to change their views”, he added.
Speaking after, HDP co-chair Sebahat Tuncel said the HDP was the achievement of a 30-40 year experience and has started out in order to prompt new experiences.
