Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Mersin deputy Ertuðrul Kürkçü, member of the Uludere Sub-Commission of the Parliamentary Committee of Human Rights Watch, spoke to ANF on the recent developments concerning the Roboski massacre for which no political or military authorities have been brought to book for 170 days since the event.
Evaluating the most recent statement of MIT (National Intelligence Organization) which said that We were uninformed of the event which was reported to us by national sources, Kürkçü underlined that it couldnt be possible for MIT to be uninformed of the massacre. The government shot at its own foot by hiding the truths, stated Kürkçü and pointed out that the massacre will turn into a historic investigation.
In a report on the massacre sent to the Parliament on 12 June, National Intelligence Organization authorities denied sharing information with any authority and informing about any concrete action or movement in the area on 28 December 2011, the day when 34 people were bombed by Turkish warplanes.
Kürkçü called attention to contradictious statements by relevant authorities and underlined that neither the Specially Authorized Public Prosecutor nor the General Staff duly performed their duties in the process of the investigation into the massacre. The Specially Authorized Prosecution Office is avoiding using its unlimited authority, while the General Staff insists on hiding the truths and those responsible by not conveying information to the court or the Parliamentary Commission, said Kürkçü and pointed out that the decision making process of the event still remains in the dark despite the fact that the political and military responsibility of the massacre belong to the government and the General Staff.
Noting that the Uludere Sub-Commission doesnt have an unlimited authority for the investigation of the massacre, Kürkçü added that; Despite great efforts given by the government to cover up the event, it is too late now to live down the massacre which has already been taken to international area and will turn into a historic investigation.
