Kýlýçdaroðlu meets Erdoðan on Kurdish issue

CHP (Republican People’s Party) leader Kemal Kýlýçdaroðlu will meet Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoðan today to discuss his party’s new initiative proposal on the Kurdish issue. The meeting is scheduled for 3pm. at the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) headquarters in Ankara.

"We are not offering a new opening. - said Kýlýçdaroðlu to reporters yesterday - We have proposed a solution. How will we solve this problem? Why don’t we political party leaders, opinion leaders and intellectuals come together and create a solution? This is our starting point. Let’s come together in Parliament like we have for the new constitution".

The CHP had proposed a 10-point plan to find a resolution for the Kurdish question. Among the points there is the establishment of a joint "Societal Conciliation Commission" in parliament and a group of "wise people" linked to the parliamentary commission to work on the issue. Both proposals resemble Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan's early suggestions.
