Germany suspends military training in Iraq
According to German news agency DPA, trainings by the German army of Iraqi troops have been temporarily suspended. Similarly, the international coalition to fight ISIS informed that a decision was taken aimed at 'protecting the soldiers'.
Asaib Ahl al-Haq designed by the US as a terrorist organisation
In a statement made by the US Department of Foreign Affairs, the decision to designate Iraq’s Asaib Ahl al-Haq as a terrorist organization was announced.
The group and its leaders are “violent proxies” of Iran, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
The group is backed by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force, which has also been sanctioned by Washington, according to the State Department.

US President Donald Trump said his country is not in favor of a war with Iran. "We acted to prevent a war. We did not act to begin a war", he said, arguing that his country aimed at "peace, cooperation and friendship with other countries".
Security measures increasing
The killing of Qassem Soleimani prompted the US to send 3,500 additional soldiers to the Middle East.
In many US major cities, security measures have been increased due to possible "terrorist attacks." New York City Council Mayor Bill de Blasio said they are "on alert" against possible attacks in the city.
However, the US Department of Interior said in a statement that there was no "serious threat" to the country.
Warning from the European Union
The European Union in a statement called on all parties to show moderation.
Josep Borrell, EU's foreign and defense commissioner, called on "all parties to act responsibly," warning that "another crisis could jeopardize efforts to stabilize Iraq for years."
Iraq Parliamento to convene on Sunday
The Iraqi Parliament will meet on Sunday to discuss the murder of Qassem Soleimani in the capital Baghdad. Prime Minister Adil Abdül Mehdi demanded that the parliament meet to address the special situation. The prime minister said that the attack on Suleimani was an attack on the sovereignty of states.
Democratic Senator: Trump cannot lead the country into war
Donald Trump's order to attack Soleimani without any prior information to Congress caused controversy within the United States.
Senator Chuck Schumer, from the Democratic Party, stressed that Trump's decision was individual and added that the President could not "lead the country into a war".
Senator Schumer added: "If [Trump] is planning a longer-term build-up of troops and potential hostility, the government will have to get the approval of Congress and the American people."
