Lawyer Tugluk visited Kurdish leader Ocalan in Imrali

Lawyer Aysel Tugluk (co chair of Democratic Society Congress and candidate at the next general elections) was granted a visit with Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan, on Wednesday. Tugluk went to Imrali island with Ocalan's lawyers after meeting had been postponed a couple of times due to bad weather conditions.

Speaking to reporters last night after the visit Tugluk quoted Ocalan has assessing the current situation. “Ocalan actually considers these latest developments as an intervention on the talks he has been having with state officials. He evaluates the process as an environment created by those intending to disrupt the advancing negotiation process. He therefore finds the developments underwhelming”.

Tugluk then quoted Ocalan as thinking that "despite interferences and obstacles like the decision to block candidates from standing as candidates, talks will continue until June 15." But, Ocalan said, the situation is not very hope-inspiring. He remarked that there is an exclusion process, which is a part of an international plan, against Kurds. He then added that the public opinion needs to be aware of it and pointed out to the possibility of solving the problem through negotiations within a constitutional frame, adding that he could not get any result despite his effort in this direction.
