Lawyers appeal against Danish court's ruling

Lawyers acting for Roj and Mesopotamia Broadcasting have appealed against the verdict of the Copenhagen Municipal Court which revoked the license of all satellite channels of Mesopotamia Broadcasting, including MMC, NUCE TV and ROJ TV, and imposed pecuniary penalty of five million DKR on 3 July.

In a statement about the appeal, Roj TV Director İmdat Yılmaz said that they have appealed to the Supreme Court of Denmark demanding the removal of the ban on the license of the channels and the postponement of the pecuniary penalty.

Remarking that the appeal was the first stage of the legal process, Yılmaz said they expected to receive an answer to the appeal in a few days.

Yılmaz underlined that the broadcast of the mentioned channels will continue in the course of the trial in the event that the appeal is accepted by the supreme court. He said they would take the case to the European Court of Human Rights in the event of the court's failure to make a fair decision.
