Lawyers for Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan will not be able to hold their weekly meeting with their client today. Once more the boat supposed to take the lawyers to Imrali island where Öcalan is jailed since 1999, is said to be not working properly.
Century Law Office lawyers Muharrem Þahin, Mehdi Öztüzün, Meral Atasoy and Mehmet Ayata had arrived in Gemlik, a district of Bursa, in the early hours of Wednesday morning to go to Imralý Island. After being kept waiting for some time at the Gemlik Gendarmerie Command, the lawyers were told that the meeting would not take place on Wednesday because of problems with the boat. Yesterday the lawyers applied to the prison administration to have permission to make their visit today. The administration replied that the boat is still not working properly. The lawyer would apply one more time on Monday.
