Legal action to lift the immunity of 15 MPs from HDP and CHP

The Turkish regime continues to target opposition MPs.

Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office has opened procedures for the lifting of immunity of twelve MPs of the HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) and three deputies of the CHP (Republican People’s Party).

The 15 separately prepared summaries of proceedings were submitted to the Ministry of Justice to be referred to the Turkish National Assembly.

Twelve MPs from the Democratic Party of Peoples (HDP) are accused of "terrorist propaganda" for commenting on the Turkish military invasion of Afrin and speeches on March 8, World Women's Day. The affected MPs are Ayhan Bilgen, Ayşe Acar Basaran, Alican Önlü, Berdan Öztürk, Bedia Özgökçe Ertan, Feleknas Uca, Filiz Keresteci, Kemal Bülbül, Meral Danış Beştaş, İmam Taşçıer, Nimetullah Erdoğmuş and co-chair Pervin Buldan.

CHP deputies Çetin Osman Budak, Erdin Bircan and Aykut Erdoğdu are accused of insulting the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
