Long March activists pay tribute to HPG guerrilla Fırat Çiçek

HPG guerrilla Fırat Çiçek (Baran Kaya) was commemorated at the Darmstadt Democratic Kurdish Community Center at the end of the second day of the Long March.

A memorial was held by activists who joined the Long March in Darmstadt, Germany to pay tribute to HPG guerrilla Fırat Çiçek (Baran Kaya), who fell martyr following an attack carried out by the invading Turkish army on 4 December 2019 against Medya Defense Areas.

The memorial was organized by young people participating in the Long March which started in Frankfurt on 8 February to protest the international conspiracy against Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan.

The memorial, in the hall where Öcalan's and martyr's photos were hung, started with a minute  silence. Darmstadt Martyrs' Families Commission and Young Women Movement representatives addressed the crowd.

'Fırat fell martyr for a dignified and free life'

Speaking on behalf of the Young Women Movement, Amargi Shengal said that Martyr Cicek fought for a honorable and free life, and that with these feelings he went to fight from Europe to Kurdistan."

Saying that all young people should understand this struggle well, Şengal underlined that young people should play a role to ensure freedom for Öcalan.

Speakers underlined that Öcalan has spoiled the conspiracy against him with his resistance and added that the Kurdish people and the struggle for freedom could never be destroyed.
