Long march from Göttingen to Kassel for Öcalan continues

The march launched yesterday from the German city of Göttingen to Kassel with the motto ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan – Peace in Kurdistan’ continues on its second day.

Kurdish youth’s umbrella organization Ciwanên Azad, Association of Students from Kurdistan (YXK) and Democratic Kurdish Society Centre (DTKM) started a two-day march from Göttingen to Kassel yesterday with the slogan ‘Freiheit für Abdullah Öcalan – Frieden in Kurdistan’ (Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan – Peace in Kurdistan).

The second stage of the march kicked off from the Hann/Münden station early Sunday morning and will end with a rally at Kassel’s Königsplatz Square to call attention to the health and security conditions of the Kurdish leader Öcalan who is held in aggravated isolation by the Turkish state in İmralı Island Prison.

A statement on behalf of the participants of the march condemned the isolation on Öcalan, the German state’s collaboration with Turkey’s Erdoğan regime against the Kurdish people and ban on Öcalan’s posters and flags of Kurdish organizations like YPG/YPJ that are leading the fight against ISIS in Syria.
