Make Leyla Güven Paris “Honorary Citizen”

Danielle Simonnet asked Paris Council to grant HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven the Honorary Citizenship.

Danielle Simonnet, a member of the Paris Metropolitan Municipality, asked Leyla Güven, who is on a hunger strike, to be granted honorary citizenship by the City of Paris.

Danielle Simonnet, spokesperson for the umbrella party France Insoumise, the most important left-wing movement in France, who is also the General Coordinator of the Left Party, talked about the resistance carried out by Leyla Güven in her speech at Paris City Council.

Simonnet, who recently visited Amed to attend the hearing which ended with Leyla Güven’s release, proposed to grant her honorary citizenship.

Simonnet, said in her Twitter account: "There are more than 10 thousand political prisoners in Turkey. HDP deputy Leyla Güven has been on hunger strike since 8 November. I demand that Paris City take on her protection by making Güven an honorary citizen of this city.”

Simonnet also visited activists on hunger strike in Strasbourg who are demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
