Man dies of heart attack during police assault in Mersin
In Mersin's central Akdeniz district, a man died of heart attack as he was battered by policemen for protesting the siege of their neighborhood with armored vehicles every night.
In Mersin's central Akdeniz district, a man died of heart attack as he was battered by policemen for protesting the siege of their neighborhood with armored vehicles every night.
At the night of December 17, police forces entered Gündoğdu neighborhood in Mersin's central Akdeniz district and started to stand guard with long barreled guns in every corner of streets.
A civilian by the name of Murat Eren, father of two, protested the policemen who ordered residents on the streets to go back to their houses.
A group of policemen therewith forced Eren into an armored police vehicle and started to batter him heavily, as a result of which the man suffered a heart attack.
Eren was taken to hospital after he felt faint in the police vehicle, but he couldn't survive.
The man was later laid to rest and the police siege around his house continues.
Neither the Governor's Office nor the Police Directorate in Mersin made an official statement regarding the incident yet.
