The month of March has begun with yet more arrests. On Thursday BDP (Peace and Democracy Party) Bingöl branch chair, Halis Yurtsever, BDP Çayýrova branch executive, Volkan Ayaz, and BDP Women's Assembly activist Mekiye Ormancý were taken into custody in Bingöl, Kocaeli and Batman.
A construction worker has also been taken into custody in the Marmaris Town of Muðla accused of participating to a demonstration.
Six out of 11 people taken into custody in Ortaklar (Aydýn) on February 27 in an operation carried out within the scope of the wider KCK (Union of Kurdistan Communities) operation, have been taken to the public prosecutor's office on Thursday. A child had been jailed on the allegations of being a member and producing propaganda for an illegal organization within the scope of the same investigation.
In Cizre 11 out of 20 people taken into custody in a KCK operation were remanded in custody on Thursday. The face charges of being members of an illegal organization.
Among the people sent to prison are BDP Women's Assembly Member Dilek Yýldýz, BDP Cizre branch executive M. Sait Asut and District Municipal Council member Müdür Gök. The arrests were protested against by a crowd in front of the courthouse. Police attacked the crowd with tear gas.
