Message from jailed politicians Ayla Akat Ata and Sebahat Tuncel

Jailed politicians Ayla Akat Ata and Sebahat Tuncel said from prison that the path to democracy and freedom will be established by the Green Left Party in the 14 May elections.

Sebahat Tuncel and Ayla Akat Ata, the jailed politicians in the Sincan Women's Closed Prison, wrote a message about the May 14 elections.

Ayla Akat Ata said in her message: "There is less than a month left for the 14 May elections. We are aware of the importance of this election and we will use it to begin the establishment of an equal, free life, a fair and democratic order. We know that the time has come. We will voice our protest with our votes against anything we think rotten, corrupted and deteriorated. Our concerns about election and ballot box security are not unfounded. We will do the best we can to ensure the regularity of the elections. The Green Left Party is the address of hope."

Sebahat Tuncel wrote: "The snake that does not change its skin is faced with extinction, and the mentality and government that do not change themselves are faced with being defeated."

Tuncel said that the 14 May elections will be a strong start for a democratic, liberal, just and peaceful life in Turkey, and added: "14 May is a date when the people will lead to change. We call on everyone who says ‘Êdî bese’ – Enough - to the current situation to vote. We are establishing the path to democracy and freedom with the Green Left Party."
