The decision hearing of the case against deposed Amed Metropolitan Municipality co-chair Selçuk Mızraklı, who has been detained for 140 days, was held on Monday.

The 9th High Criminal Court in Diyarbakır ruled continuation of arrest and sentenced Mızraklı to 9 years, 4 months and 15 days in prison for “membership of a terrorist organization”.

Mızraklı said in his message that they will "go away soon". He was referring to the ruling elites which, he said, "have accumulated a lot of sin and evil".

Mızraklı's message reads as follows: "We are going through a period in which goodness, love, light and peace are needed more than anything else. It's time to grow the good against evil, bright against darkness, courage against fear, and peace against conflict and war.

I don't accept the decision and verdict against me as they are decisions in which law and jurisdiction are acting under the shadow of politics. Truth, as always, will end all these processes we are going through and shed light on them.

HDP: We don't accept the verdict

The HDP also condemned the verdict in a written statement.

HDP Central Executive Board said: "Seljuk Mızraklı, who has been held hostage in Kayseri Prison for 140 days, has been sentenced to prison for 9 years 4 months and 15 days." Reminding that co-mayorMızraklı had been freely and democratically elected, the HDP said: "The will of the people of Diyarbakır, the right of the Kurdish people to be elected and elected have been once again violated. Human history is a history of bullying, cruelty but also of dignified struggles and achievements. Our party and our people will not give up their determination to raise a strong democracy struggle against oppression and repression."
