Mobile Öcalan library in Heilbronn

A mobile library with books by Abdullah Öcalan has made a stop in Heilbronn. The ideas of Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish freedom movement can neither be locked up nor banned, an activist stated.

After a round trip through Switzerland, the driving library with books of the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan arrived in Heilbronn. Despite rainy weather, the bus was welcomed with loud music.

On this occasion, the Kurdish Community Center in Heilbronn and the local women's initiative organized a rally in the city center on Tuesday. The rally was supported by activists from Heilbronn, and representatives of the Left Party were also present. At a booth, signatures were collected for the campaign of the international initiative Justice For Kurds to remove the PKK from the "terror lists" of the EU and the USA.

Speeches were given about the political situation in Kurdistan and Öcalan's prison conditions. One activist stated: "Öcalan's imprisonment does not only represent the imprisonment of a single person, but is a reflection of how attempts have been made for decades to suppress the Kurdish people and deny them any rights. However, the ideas of Abdullah Öcalan and the Kurdish freedom movement cannot be imprisoned or banned."
