The second stop of the mobile 'leader Öcalan Library', which is touring various cities of Switzerland for the second time with the aim of introducing the freedom paradigm of Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan to world public opinion, was the city of Lucerne.
Kurdish people's leader Abdullah Öcalan's thoughts on democratic life, ecological life and women's freedom are presented in the mobile library, which is promoted by the Swiss Democratic Kurdish Society Center (CDK-S). The event began on 27 March in Zurich with the slogan "Wê Azadî Bi Serkeve" (Freedom will win). The paradigm developed by Abdullah Öcalan is explained through the books he wrote in Imrali Prison under heavy isolation conditions during his 23 years of captivity.
The mobile library opened at Helvetiaplatz was visited by the Kurds living in Lucerne throughout the day.
As part of the event, signatures were collected to remove the PKK from the list of terrorist organisations.
Peace Mothers Fatma Tören (72) and Zelal Özkan (72), who have been both witnesses and protagonists of the struggle for more than 40 years, as well as veterans Ali Tören (69), Kadri Özkan (79) and Abdurrahim İlbaş (54), went to the mobile library and spoke to people. The veterans said: "Our leadership is our reason for living," and added: "We will not stop fighting, even for a moment, until our Leader regains his freedom."
Zelal Özkan said: “I couldn't stay at home on a day like this. My leader's freedom is my reason for living. Our Leader taught us what freedom really is and how to live freely. Wherever we are, we will not fail to shout for the freedom of our Leader. The freedom of our leader is our freedom, the freedom of our people and other peoples."
CDK-Luzern co-chairs Sabiha Yılmaz and Ercan Güneş said that the Swiss interest in the library is high.
Pınar Demir, member of the CDK Foreign Relations Board, who took part in the organization of the Leader's Library, gave the following information about the mobile library: "We are informing the public about how our leader sees women, ecology and social freedoms.”
The library will stop in Solothurn today and in Lausanne on Wednesday.”
