Hands grenades were thrown inside the main entrance of Ilam Prison (western Iran) as some people tried to save a prisoner from being executed, reported the Iranian state media on Monday.

27 people, among them some security guards were injured as a result of the hand grenade attack. Three people were arrested suspected of taking part in the attack.

According to the state run news agency Fars one prisoner was hanged early on Monday morning in the prison of Ilam. The prisoner was identified as "A. F." and was convicted f murder, said the official reports.
