More than a hundred people have been taken into custody as result of simultaneous house raids in Istanbul, Bingöl, Adıyaman, Adana and Mardin provinces as part of the increasingly ongoing operations of political genocide.
ADANA
Police conducted raids on nearly 30 houses and detained 26 people in an operation against mainly Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in the southern province of Adana this morning. The detainees include HDP Adana provincial co-chair Hüseyin Beyaz.
ISTANBUL
In simultaneous house raids in several districts of Istanbul, 70 people have been taken into custody and 34 other people are sought in the scope of the same operation. House raids are ongoing across the city.
The detainees who include administrators and members of HDP, DBP (Democratic Regions' Party), HDK (Peoples' Democratic Congress) and TJA (Free Women's Movement) have been taken to Istanbul Police Department following a medical check at hospital.
BİNGÖL
Early this morning police raided several houses in Bingöl province and detained DBP Party Assembly member Adnan Sarı, Bingöl Municipal Council's DBP member Cihat Yıldırım, Bingöl Provincial Assembly member Aydın Kaya and DBP member İlhan Çakabay.
ADIYAMAN
Four people have been detained due to social media posts in Adıyaman province.
İZMİR
Police forces conducted simultaneous raids on 50 addresses in İzmir and its Menemen, Menderes, Urla, Bayındır and Torbalı districts this morning.
35 people including administrators of the HDP (Peoples' Democratic Party), SYKP (Socialist Party of Refoundation) and ESP (Socialist Party of the Oppressed) were detained in the large-scale operation and many computers and properties have been seized by the police.
The detentions were grounded on activities organised by the Peace Bloc, social media posts and demonstrations of women's organisations in protest at violence against women.
Those detained in the operation include SYKP provincial administrator Furkan Ege, HDP Torbalı district co-chair Gülcan Kızıldağ, TJA (Free Women's Movement) activist Maile Arıç and SDGF (Federation of Socialist Youth Associations) administrator Gözde Sivaslıoğlu.
The detainees were taken to Istanbul Department of Police.
ANTEP
Simultaneous house raids in Antep targeted administrators and members of the HDP. Many including HDP Antep provincial co-chair Atiye Okay and party members Abudurahman Kartal, Diyar Kazak, Ahmet Satilmiş, Talat Yilmazsoy and Eyup Şahman have been taken into custody.
MARDİN
Turkish security forces raided numerous houses in the rural areas of Mardin's Ömerli, Artuklu and Nusaybin districts last night following the declaration of a curfew in this territory yesterday morning.
The detention operations were carried out in the villages of Akarsu, İlkadım, Büyükkardeş, Yavru and Kuruköy. Minors are reported to be among those detained in the operations.
