Hundreds of police and special operations teams under Sirnak Provincial Security Directorate carried out raids in numerous houses last night in Gündoðdu, Yenîmahalle, Bahçelievler, Dicle, Yeþilyurt and Vakýfkent neighborhoods of Þýrnak. While the raided houses were also searched in detail, more than 50 people were taken into custody including BDP administrators, Provincial and City Council members.
Names of some detainees are reported as follows; Eðitim-Sen Þýrnak Branch Chair Serhat Uður, BDP administrator Mehmet Birlik, Þýrnak Municipality Council members Aydýn Pusat, Cemil Yorgun, DTK Spokesman Temel Ýdil, BDP Provincial Vice Chair Salih Gülenç, City Council Spokesman Ýrfan Kaplan, Maruf Ýke, Adnan Kaplan, Azime Ýke, Hasan Bayar, Selman Uysal, Taybet Belge, Asya Atýlgan, Perihan Cihan, Agit Yiðit, Abdulaziz Bilgi.
While BDP provincial and Cizre district buildings are still being searched by police, the reason of raids and detentions are still unknown.
Meanwhile, the tension in Þýrnak and Cizre due to the detentions continues while a clash has broken out in Þýrnak between police and demonstrators protesting against the detentions.
On the other hand, three people from the same family have been detained in Küçükçekmece district of Ýstanbul.
Ismet Delen, former executive of the closed DTP(Democratic Society Party), his brother Nusret Delen and their close relative Özcan Delen have been taken into custody today by Istanbul Security Directorate police teams who carried out many house raids in Küçükçekmece district early this morning. Detainees have reportedly been taken to the Security Directorate.
