Mothers of hunger strikers in prison: Let's build peace!

"Hands in hands we will bring peace!" said the mothers of the prisoners on hunger strike holding a new action in Amed.

Mothers wishing to draw attention to the hunger strike in the prisons demanding the end of isolation against Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan, met in the borough of Sur in Amed. The mothers met at Süleyman mosque and called on everyone to support the hunger strikers.

The mother of prisoner Hızal Yıldırım said that their sons’ demand should be fulfilled. Yıldırım’s mother said: “ Our sons and daughters have been on hunger strike for months demanding the end of isolation. We want peace. We don’t want to see the lifeless bodies of our sons and daughters coming out of prison. All mothers should come with us. Our children are vomiting blood now. Their bodies melt before our eyes every day. We're not going to give up because we love our sons and daughters. Let's bring peace together.”

Aysel Ateş, the mother of another prisoner added: “We gathered here to prevent our sons and daughters from dying. I address the President and the Minister of Justice to as well as all civil society organizations and people. I'm ready to die to keep my son alive. I'm going out in the morning to keep my sons alive. A police woman is constantly harassing us.”

Following the statement the mothers chanted slogans.
