MP candidate Ayla Akat Ata faces the danger of disability after being hit by tear gas during the demonstrations staged to protest the Turkish Supreme Election Board’s veto decision. Notified by doctors to have necrosis in leg and risk of gangrene, Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block’s Batman Independent Candidate Ayla Akat Ata said; “Even if my leg is amputated, I will continue to be among the people”.
Ata was retaken to hospital last week because of the gradually growing and bruising wound on her leg that was injured during a police attack which reflected in the press as well. Doctors notify that she has “necrosis” and bears the “risk of gangrene”.
Noting that the wound cannot be treated in usual ways as it is burnt with a chemical, doctors say that the effects of the destruction may arise later as long standing as the shooting was made from a too close distance.
