The Municipality of Martano in the Lecce city of Italy has also awarded Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan with an ‘honorary citizenship’.

The award ceremony will be held in the Martano Municipality at 19:00 on February 16, Thursday. Çarmine Malinconico, a lawyer for Öcalan and Kurdistan Information Bureau representatives will also attend the ceremony.

The municipality made a statement and called on all the citizens to attend the award ceremony.

Öcalan was previously awarded with ‘Honorary Citizenship’ by the municipalities of Naples and Palermo in recent years.
