Muslim: Kobanê will triumph
PYD Co-President Salih Muslim, in Copenhagen for diplomatic meetings, said Kobanê, which is resisting attacks by ISIS gangs, would achieve victory. Muslim was speaking at an event organised by FEY-KURD, at which he assessed recent developments.
Over a thousand people from Kurdistan attended last night’s meeting in Copenhagen. Salih Muslim said the model of democratic autonomy established in Rojava discomfited dominant forces with interests in the region, which is the reason ISIS attacks have been intensified.
Muslim added this was not a new situation, as YPG forces have been countering attacks aiming to throttle the Rojava revolution for 18 months.
Muslim said Kobanê was waging an all-out struggle against ISIS attacks, adding that breaking this resistance was not easy and that the brave people of Kobanê would be triumphant.
Muslim said: “Kobanê is our honour, and we will defend it”, adding that they needed heavy arms such as anti-tank weaponry in order to counter the armoured vehicles and advanced equipment possessed by ISIS.
Muslim said the ISIS gangs were the hired killers of those states that could not stomach the democratic system established by the Kurds in Rojava, adding: “We have set up a system which recognises different beliefs, the rights of women and the mother tongues of different peoples. And the oil is in the hands of the people, not the oil companies.”
Muslim said: "All this does not suit these states, and as they could not declare war on a democratic system, they looked for hired killers and ISIS fitted the bill.”
Muslim also mentioned the bill which was passed by the Turkish Parliament, saying they would have to see how it was implemented. "If harmful things are done to communities then there will be a backlash. They are talking of a buffer zone. We say there is an administration in Rojava. We would regard any action taken without consulting this administration as an occupation and oppose it,” he concluded.
